In March 2025, several key food-related regulations officially came into effect. The State Administration for Market Regulation's Order No. 94, the "Measures for Metrological Supervision and Management in Farmers' Markets," took effect on March 1, clearly outlining specific guidelines for metrological oversight in farmers' markets. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' Order No. 2 of 2024, the "Regulations on the Examination and Approval of Designated Slaughterhouses for Live Pigs," was implemented to standardize the review process for establishing such facilities. Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced Notice No. 868, announcing control measures on two highly toxic pesticides—aluminum phosphide and chloropicrin. Effective March 1, the notice revoked pesticide registration certificates for aluminum phosphide formulations held by companies other than its original manufacturers, while maintaining the registration status of the original manufacturers themselves. However, any formulations produced by these manufacturers must now bear newly approved pesticide labels, with their usage restricted exclusively to controlling pests in stored grain.
